L’OCCITANE Group achieves a new milestone in its B Corp™ certification journey

Progress is measured not only by what is achieved, but by the commitment to keep improving.

L’OCCITANE Group is proud to announce further progress in its B Corp™ certification journey under B Lab™’s new Standards, with entities within the Group’s certification perimeter achieving certification or recertification under the new Standards. This marks a significant milestone in the Group’s ongoing work to strengthen its practices across governance, people and environmental topics.

The accomplishment follows the Group’s first certification in 2023 and recognises the progress made over the past three years. More importantly, it marks the next stage of a continuous improvement journey under a significantly more rigorous certification framework.

Across its portfolio, the Group continues to advance its B Corp™ journey. A number of entities within the Group have already achieved certification or recertification under the new Standards, with further brands progressing towards their respective certification milestones. These milestones will also be communicated by the individual brands. This reflects the Group’s ongoing commitment to enhancing social and environmental performance across its businesses.

For L’OCCITANE Group, B Corp™ has never been simply about earning a badge of approval. Rather, it provides an independent framework that helps translate long-held values into measurable action, encouraging the Group to improve how it does business every day.

Raphaëlle Archambeaud-Sicot

Group Chief Sustainability Officer

Responsible business is never static. The new framework encourages us to strengthen our governance, deepen our environmental and social impact and continue learning year after year. That spirit of continuous improvement remains at the heart of our approach.

A higher bar

The new B Lab Standards represent a significant evolution in the way B Corp™ certification is assessed. Under the new Standards, businesses are required to meet specified requirements across seven Impact Topics, subject to the applicable assessment and verification process. Independent third-party audits, periodic subsequent audits, and increasingly rigorous requirements reinforce that being a B Corp™ is an ongoing commitment rather than a one-off achievement.

The updated framework also introduces a phased five-year certification cycle, recognising that meaningful change takes time while ensuring businesses demonstrate progress through regular assessments. This milestone therefore marks an important chapter, recognising the progress made since 2023 while setting a clear direction for what remains to be achieved.

The Group is proud to be among the first cohort of companies engaging in recertification under the new B Lab Standards, contributing valuable input to the development of the framework and helping to shape the future of responsible business at scale.

Momentum in practice

Since securing certification in 2023, the Group’s business units have steadily unified their methodology across governance, people and environmental priorities.

For people, the Group introduced a new Compensation and Benefits Policy as part of its Fair Wage strategy. Built around six pillars, the policy aims to promote greater transparency, fairness and consistency through Living Wage certifications, external benchmarking, regular pay-gap assessments, structured salary reviews and clearer communication around compensation and benefits. Today, 100% of employees within the original target scope receive a certified Living Wage, with the Group now working to embed fair wage practices across its supply chain. Inclusive hiring guidelines have also been introduced to help reduce bias and broaden opportunities.

The company has also strengthened its human rights assessments through its #NotJustSuppliers responsible procurement programme. Meanwhile, its Global Speak Up Policy continues to encourage employees and other stakeholders to raise concerns and share feedback openly, helping to foster an organisational culture built on integrity and accountability.

Environmental headway has also been made. A third-party carbon assessment audit has refined the accuracy and credibility of climate reporting, while ongoing work to refine the Group’s empty packaging programme is helping to develop locally adapted circular solutions. More than twelve years after launching the initiative, the programme is now active in nearly 86 per cent of owned stores.

Meanwhile, the Group has continued to increase the use of renewable, organic and certified responsibly sourced raw materials. Across the wider business, innovation efforts remain focused on expanding refillable formats and improving product and packaging design to support material reuse and resource efficiency. In FY2026 alone, more than five million refill units were sold across the Group’s brands, reflecting its long-standing commitment to offering customers refillable product options.

The Group also continued to contribute to industry dialogue on nature and climate, participating in key international forums and collaborative initiatives, including New York Climate Week, to help advance collective action and nature-positive approaches.

Governance has also been reinforced through the introduction of new policies, including the Group Tax Policy and the Group Responsible Lobbying Policy, increasing transparency, accountability and responsible business practices across the organisation.

Moving forward

This year, as the Group celebrates the 50th anniversary of its heritage brand, L’Occitane en Provence, this milestone carries particular significance.

Long before refill systems became mainstream, founder Olivier Baussan was collecting empty bottles from customers so they could be reused, driven by a simple conviction: that a company should take responsibility for what it creates. Today, that same conviction continues to guide the Group’s approach to sustainability, innovation and responsible growth.
