The L’OCCITANE Group today issued its FY2019 Environmental, Social and Governance Report. The report outlines the Group’s global best practices and overall progress in the areas of sustainable sourcing and purchasing, product safety and quality, environmental responsibility as well as employee well-being. In addition, the report highlights L’OCCITANE Group’s philanthropic programmes.

‘The 2019 financial year marks a turning point in corporate social responsibility for the L’OCCITANE Group. By strengthening our actions to preserve biodiversity and combat plastic waste, we are determined to address two of this century’s major challenges,’ said L’OCCITANE Group’s Chief Executive Officer, Reinold Geiger.

One of the most significant developments of the past year is our multi-year partnership with Loop Industries. The partnership is a major step towards achieving 100% recycled plastic in L’OCCITANE en Provence bottles by 2025. L’OCCITANE Group also directly contributes to the preservation of plant species and varieties through various partnerships as well as its supply chain for plant-based ingredients such as immortelle, lavender and shea butter. These actions are part of the Group’s broader vision to reduce the company’s environmental footprint and preserve biodiversity. Moreover, the Group’s Foundations support projects that have a positive impact on local communities around the world, such as promoting female leadership and the fight against preventable blindness.

Corporate social responsibility and sustainable development are at the core of the L’OCCITANE Group’s business strategy and are embraced by all employees. The report, entitled ‘L’OCCITANE Group Cares’, illustrates the Group’s responsible and sustainable practices and progress in six pillars of commitment. It covers all the activities of the L’OCCITANE Group, and its brands L’OCCITANE en Provence, Melvita, Erborian, LimeLife and L’OCCITANE au Brésil, for the financial year that ended on 31 March 2019. The premium skincare brand ELEMIS, which has been part of the Group since March 2019, is not included in its scope.
